Mira Cabernet Franc Hyde Vineyard 2018

Mira Cabernet Franc Hyde Vineyard 2018

When grown in a cooler climate like Carneros, Cabernet Franc shows vibrant red berries, cassis and purple lilac characters along with signature earthy gravel undertones. Concentrated dark fruit tones on the palate are further nuanced by notes of mocha, cedar and bay leaf.

93 Points - James Suckling - "Notes of ripe dark berries, dark chocolate, pine cones and moist earth. Full-bodied, polished and silky with fine-grained tannins. Structured and refined with vivid acidity that adds succulence and freshness. Dry and lightly chewy aftertaste with notes of spices and cocoa. Drink or hold."

Vineyard Notes
Located in the Los Carneros AVA in Napa Valley, Hyde Vineyard’s East facing slopes provide ideal sun exposure when paired with the cool coastal winds that blow from San Pablo Bay through Carneros. Considered one of the superstar vineyards of the Napa Valley, the grapes from this location are perfect for crafting our single vineyard Cabernet Franc.
Vintage Notes
2017 is a year in which Nature kept us on our toes through much of the growing season. Winter brought us a much-needed abundance of rain that refreshed our groundwater supplies. The mild spring felt like a continuation of winter which culminated in a rare June hailstorm. The winter rains were brought to balance with very warm summer temperatures leading to the wildfires at the end of harvest. Fortunately for Mira, none of our vineyards were impacted and we had wrapped up harvest before the fires, saving us from any effect on wine quality.
Winemaker's Notes
Six day cold maceration followed by seven days of fermentation. Daily pumpovers during active fermentation at 88°F. 32 days total vat time followed by malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak barrels (50% new).
Food Pairing Notes
Grilled Chops, Castelvetrano Olives, Herbed Goat Cheese, Lentils
